Newspaper basket - Square, Large; 7 colours

These baskets are handmade in Sri Lanka using rolled up strips of newspaper which have been dyed bright colours. They are held together with simple white craft glue. When dry, the glue turns clear and creates a strong protective bond that makes these baskets surprisingly sturdy. An ingenious and ecological way to use up old newspapers. These large ones make ideal fruit or bread baskets (a paper napkin inside will keep them clean). Not suitable for anything wet, of course.
