Batik art

Batik is said to have originated in Indonesia many centuries ago, and the technique spread across Asia and Africa, with different styles found across the continents. Sri Lankan batiks tend to depict traditional motifs and imagery, and often incorporate an element of tie dye, while Indonesian batiks tend to feature very intricate recurring patterns. The production process, using wax resistance and repeated dyeing, renders the cotton completely colourfast, and it can be machine washed and ironed quite happily without losing any of its quality.

Please note: all the batik wall hangings are 100% cotton with raw edges, ready for you to finish with a frame of your choice. Images are not to scale here - please check the details for dimensions.
