Newspaper basket - Extra Wide; 2 depths, 4 colours

These extra wide round bowls are handmade from strips of newspaper which have been dyed bright colours. The craft glue that binds them provides a protective surface that makes them surprisingly sturdy. They make ideal fruit or bread baskets, or containers for small toys and ornaments. Not only do they promote upcycling, they also provide an income to the women in rural Sri Lanka who make them, either in the workshop or at home, on flexible terms to suit them.
