Newspaper bowl - Square, Medium; 8 colours

These bowls are handmade in Sri Lanka using rolled up strips of newspaper which have been dyed bright colours. They are held together with simple white craft glue. When dry, the glue turns clear and creates a strong protective bond that makes these bowls surprisingly sturdy. An ingenious and ecological way to upcycle old newspapers. These medium bowls can be used as small bread or fruit baskets (a paper napkin inside will keep them clean), or dressing table organisers for cosmetics, jewellery and so on. They also make great organising containers for craft items and sewing materials.
